The newly appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Disaster Management Authority (DMA) Mr Thabo Khasipe has on Wednesday announced his official resignation as DMA and National COVID-19 Secretariat (NACOSEC) CEO in a media briefing held in Maseru.
In his address, Mr Khasipe showed that coming up to this conclusion was not an easy task for him as there is still a long way to go for Lesotho to fight COVID-19 pandemic.
He showed that he is glad to have been given a chance to work collectively with the team he was given in heading NACOSEC which is now a program dissolved in the Disaster Management Authority.
He however showed that his biggest concern is to see to it that the team has access to funds like paying of NACOSEC staff, the purchase of Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) and proper management of resources needed to fight the pandemic.
Mr. Khasipe showed that the release of funds which is still a hustle now is going to allow easy operations as resources will be available.
He thanked the government for the appointment offered to him indicating that it was a very big task to be presented before him.
He however pleaded with his successor to ensure that the safety of Basotho nation is not being compromised in any way during this time when the world if fighting COVID-19 pandemic.
He also announced that he will be going back to his job as Commissioner General of Lesotho Revenue Authority.
Mr. Khasipe was temporarily appointed as the new Disaster Management Authority Chief Executive Officer to facilitate the operations of NACOSEC under DMA Act on September, 23.
